Does the thought of cold-calling make you reach for the phone with joy? Does your yellow page ad bring in the client traffic you’d like? Do you leap out of bed on the day of your local Chamber’s next networking event? Do you look forward with anticipation to the days you’ve designated to “do marketing”?
If you answered no, then you probably want to find more effective marketing tools that are easy to use and make you want to use them. They do exist and I’ll be talking all about them at the upcoming workshop I’m doing for the New Hampshire Conflict Resolution Association. If you’re in the region on Friday, March 16, I hope you’ll join us. No need to be tech-savvy…just bring your curiosity.
Making Mediation Your Day Job: What Every ADR Professional Should Know About Online Marketing
Marketing is becoming less and less about persuading and selling and more about dialogue. That’s good news for mediators and other ADR professionals, because we know all about building dialogue. If you can foster dialogue and use the Internet, then you have two of the most important sets of tools you need to market an ADR practice today.
You do want to be on the Internet if you’re not already. A major survey conducted in fall 2006 sought to determine whether and how U.S. consumers were using the Internet to find local service businesses. A whopping 70% of respondents had used the ‘net to find services in their back yards.
And if you already have a website but it’s a traditional “static” site, then it may not be serving you nearly as well as you think. Come learn about key traffic-building basics for your web presence…things like findability, credibility, and generating the right kind of traffic.
You’ll also learn about e-zines, blogs, autoresponders and even podcasts…they may sound like Greek (or is it Geek?) but they’ll be explained in accessible terms and you’ll learn how to get started with your own online marketing strategy. It’ll be marketing you’ll do and may even discover you enjoy!
